A Note from Our President
Welcome to Del Rio and the 47th Flying Training Wing here at Laughlin Air Force Base! My name is Lisa Hansen and I am the president of the Laughlin Officer’s Spouses Club for the 2009-2010 board year. Despite what you may have heard about OSC’s (white gloves, anyone?) we are a fun group looking to “bloom where we’re planted” in the dusty Texas desert!
We have social events the third Tuesday of every month that have a variety of themes from a PJ party to Salsa lessons to our annual Silver/Crystal Bingo! We also encourage involvement by becoming a LOSC board member. Elections for the upcoming board year takes place in the spring, but we have occasional positions open, please ask any board member about openings if you are interested.
We are a charitable organization as well, making thousands of dollars in donations to local and Air Force wide organizations. In the past two years, we have given over $20,000 in scholarships to qualified military dependents as well as local students. We run a Thrift Shop and host an annual Charity Auction and a Fall Festival as fundraisers.
Membership in the LOSC is open to both husbands and wives of active duty, retired, and reserve military officers, students included. If you would like to see what our club is like before joining, you are welcome to attend one social without being a member.
